Master of the Universe
The Lord of the Universe who reigned
before anything was created.
When all was made by his will
He was acknowledged as King.
And when all shall end
He still all alone shall reign.
He was, He is,
and He shall be in glory.
And He is one, and there's no other,
to compare or join Him.
Without beginning, without end
and to Him belongs diminion and power.

"Kenneth Lampl’s writing of Adon Olam is so incredibly moving. The warmth and care put into every note is deliberate and flows seamlessly from one section to the next taking both the listener and the singer on a miraculous journey toward pure light. A most stunning piece that is well worth the challenges as it can give the feeling of transporting your choir to another plane of existence where there is beauty abound and where a great feeling of uplifting and comfort tie it all together. Truly a masterful work. "

"This piece is superb! I used it with my Chamber Choir and the students loved it. It is moderately difficult with 8 part writing much of the piece. Lampl has a great understanding of the text and the sensitivity with which he set it to music makes it very singable. If you like Whitacre but are looking for something a little different, this could be the piece for you. I plan to use it again with my ensemble."

"This is one of the very few settings of “Adon Olam” that does justice to the mystical text. This is not a congregational hymn. It is a sensitive setting of the lyrics, using lush contemporary 8-part extended chords in a style that brings to mind the harmonic constructions of Eric Whitacre. It has been a hit with singers and audiences alike in concerts and at festivals. Highly recommended."
