Matthew J. Olson leads an ever-diversifying career as a choral composer, conductor, singer, music educator, and arts administrator. He is winner of the 2013 Houghton College Sacred Choral Composition Contest for In Paradisum. His setting of Wendell Berry’s “The Peace of Wild Things” has been performed by choirs of St. Olaf College and Michigan State University, among many others. And his arrangements, having been performed in three continents, span all genres and styles including bluegrass, folk, hymnody, gospel, and rock.

Matthew is Artistic Director of Oratory, a professional period instrument orchestra and choir specializing in J.S. Bach’s sacred cantatas.
