Debra Scroggins
Debra Scroggins, composer, is known for her lyrical and engaging compositions. Her music has been heard throughout the United States and Europe, and as far away as Russia and Columbia, South America. In 2010 she was named Commissioned Composer by the Texas Music Teachers Association and since 2005 she has served as Composer in Residence for The Texas Voices, a professional chamber choir in North Texas. For the 2013-14 season she has also been named Composer in Residence for the Plano Civic Choir, a 100 voice choir also based in the Dallas area. Her music has frequently been performed at state and national conventions such as the Texas Music Teachers Association, Oklahoma Music Educators Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, Southwest American Choral Directors Association, National Choral Directors Association and the National American Guild of Organists.
Drawing upon years of experience as a composer, professional singer and educator she is a highly sought-after composer of commissioned works and is frequently called upon as a clinician/consultant to choirs throughout the US.
