Cynthia Gray
Cynthia Gray is a composer and music educator. She has taught high school, junior high and elementary choral music as well as elementary general music. Her career in composition grew from the need for appropriate choral music for her own students. Her first compositions, “The Clouds” and “Reach Out” were met with immediate success, finding their way onto choral contest lists and inclusion in the nationally televised MENC “World’s Largest Concert”. Since that time, Mrs. Gray has written and published over 60 choral compositions which have been sung and enjoyed by choirs across the country.
Mrs. Gray has served as guest conductor/clinician at numerous choral festivals, music conferences and workshops and has written commissioned works for many school choirs and honors choirs, most recently for the 2013 Cincinnati Children’s Choir Summer Festival, the Ohio Choral Director’s Association Honor’s Children’s Choir, the Ohio Music Education Association District XI High School Honor’s Choir and the Ohio Music Education Association District XIII Junior High Honor’s Choir. She serves as the artistic director of the Cincinnati Children’s Choir Satellite Choir program and conducts the CCC Northeast Satellite. She also enjoys directing adult choruses at Otterbein-Lebanon and is music minister and choir director at her church in Centerville, Ohio. Professional affiliations include four years on the executive board of the Ohio Choral Directors Association and membership in the American Choral Directors Association, the Music Education National Conference and the Ohio Music Education Association.
